Church of the Master
Offsite Congregation Ministries |
Church of the Master seeks out opportunities to worship the Lord Jesus Christ and fellowship with his people who are not able to come to our campus. Many who cannot now attend services at our campus are seniors who have been active members of Christian congregations but are now in a stage of life where they live in assisted living, nursing, retirement, memory care or adult day care homes. Church of the Master has a fourteen passenger handicapped accessible bus that goes out each Sunday to a number of local homes to bring in members and guests for Worship Services. But there is still a need for those who are physically unable to ride the bus. So for years we have participated in ecumenical Worship Service ministries where we share leadership on a rotating basis with other area Christian churches. And we still go to three area homes at least once a month — it is a wonderful ministry and the residents essentially have visiting speakers each week. About five years ago God led us to try something different. We were visited by a distraught wife who told how her husband’s stroke was causing him to suffer — because he missed celebrating worship with fellow Protestant Christians while he remained in a nursing center. Rather than begin another ecumenical ministry, we developed the Offsite Congregation Ministry concept in Mesa. Groups of Church of the Master members (including ordained pastors, elders, and deacons) faithfully celebrate Worship year round with more than 175 of God’s chosen people living in nine additional communities. This ministry has been blessed by the Holy Spirit and a real church community has emerged with residents along with their families getting to know one another and becoming praying, caring, praising, worshiping congregations. Our children are involved too! They assist parents in the ministry and the Master’s Pieces (kids’ choir) makes the off site congregations a part of their tours. Opportunities for You Church of the Master continues to look for opportunities to grow this ministry from twelve worship locations — to help people with physical limitations to find a church home and make Worship Service and Bible Study available to them. If you have a heart for the elderly, play old hymns on any musical instrument, or would like to see this work expanded to every Mesa center where aging saints and those who have yet the meet the Savior now live, contact , Director of Senior Ministries, at (480) 985-1660. |
