organization
Last week we presented the organizational structure of the church to align like ministries with the intent to improve the accountability, responsibility and overall communication.

The next step behind this structure is the shift of the Ministry Area leaders from being the doers to being the equippers of the ministry. So instead of staff directed ministry we are shifting to a staff equipping ministry where the staff equips the leaders under them for the ministry. This is in line with the overall direction of scripture to equip disciples to carry out the ministry.

This doesn’t mean that the Ministry Area leaders won’t be involved in “doing” as they are accountable and responsible to session for the success or failure of the ministries underneath them, but they can’t do it all and will be empowering the ministry leaders with training, curriculum, direction, to make the ministries successful.

This is the new organizational structure approved by session and is currently being implemented. The purpose was twofold:
  1. To have clear lines of responsibility and accountability for the ministries of the church.

  2. Improve communications and operations of the church by combining like functions together.
Every Ministry of the church from the CAN program to pre-school is aligned with a major ministry area.
Every Ministry has a person responsible for the ministry.

There are three new positions that the church is in the process of hiring:
Director of Family Ministry
full time position who is responsible for Family, youth and children’s ministry for the church.

Director of Administration, Communication & Coordination
full time position and has responsibility for the Finance, personnel, Facilities and advertising/communications of the church.

Receptionist
Front office receptionist responsible for greeting, phone coverage and other administrative duties as directed.
In addition, to improve communications and spot problems, elders will be assigned to each ministry area, not to run the ministries but too offer guidance and make sure the all the ministries are moving in the same direction and adhering to the policies set forth by the session.

Yes this is where you in the congregation come in. We have a Nominating Committee that will be approaching year-round members to become elders so we can fully support the ministries of the church. It is time to make your talents count.
